Joost always comes up with the most authentic tattoo concepts. A passionate cyclist himself, he envisioned a design of a buzzard soaring through the air, passing a cyclist moving through classic Dutch landscapes.
The buzzard is fully healed and with the second half added, I really love how this original piece came out. Thanks again!

Ever since I stepped my foot into the world of tattooing I have searched for a brown ink that could be used for linework. Every artist told me: it doesn’t exist. We only have brown colour-ink, which is not suitable for linework.

But, last year I did find a brown lining ink! And I decided to run a test on myself. It turned out pretty dark brown but I LOVE how it works on my skin. It feels a little bit more natural to me, so much warmer than black ink.

I especially love this colour in thick ornamental work, so I decided to draw you all some flash. Can also be tattooed in black of course, but you are very welcome for the brown,

As a lover of botanical art and a feminist, I feel incredibly honored to meet and learn from Wil Wessel.
For over 25 years, she worked at Wageningen University as a scientific botanical illustrator—a craft that’s sadly on the verge of disappearing. I love that we still get the chance to learn from her about the original ways of working (with pen and ink), and she continues to pass on her passion for this unique scientific approach.
Knowing she did all this in a male-dominated world, at a time when women were automatically let go after getting married, makes me admire her even more.

With a subtle dash of colour this tattoo remains quite soft and gentle.
Since the launch of Chat GPT it seems to me that it is getting easier for everyone to find the meaning of particular tattoo subjects. On the other hand, it seems like this AI is generating an endless stream of meanings. Like the old fortune tellers: just shout out as many options as possible untill you find that someone is picking whatever suits them. To me, this way of giving meaning to a tattoo is losing its strength. At this point, you can find ANY meaning that suits you. It is all there.
On the other hand: it is all there. Take your pick. As long as it feels fitting for you :)

The new REACH inks vary in quality and I still need time to monitor how they heal. The Noble Pink of Kuro Sumi did not do very well over +2 years on this particular tattoo. We re-drew the lines with the Word famous magenta. Hope this sticks.

After this step leave your tattoo alone for 24 hours before moving to the second stage of your aftercare: washing it with soap twice a day and then apply a thin layer of after care cream.
